There’s a buzzing hive of activity building at the Kinky Malinki headquarters as news is released that not only is Kinky Malinki being released in August but a follow up soon on its heels in October! With the 9th birthday looming on the horizon, their Dubai residency continuing to rock in the Middle East and a spate of thriving parties the length and breadth of the UK and beyond, 2007 has already been a meteoric year for the KM crew.
And rather than letting the grass grow under their beat-tapping feet, the guys have decided to release a double whammy and unleash Kinky Malinki on August 6th and before the dry ice has cleared to follow it with another double CD package later in the year. Paul Crane, Kinky Malinki’s director, says that:

“It’s something we’ve been working towards and are now really excited about. We feel we have got something special to offer and with our new recruit Mark Robinson from Peppermint Jam also involved, there’s a whole new angle to the project.”

Kinky Malinki is a sublime double CD featuring some corking classics and future floor fillers. CD One by Grant Richards starts off quite tribally and builds up track by tracks, turning pretty deep towards the end with some nice vocal leads in there too. There are some big breakdowns in a really mixed bag of deep house condensed into one great mix, with standout tracks including Soul Central’s Time After Time and Timmy Vegas’ Girl From Brazil. Grant’s mix will surprise people overall being much more than just kinky, encapsulating a whole host of deep house gems that exhibits a fresh and adventurous vibe with much thought having gone into the programming and representing the Room Two vibe at Turnmills.

Mark Robinson’s CD 2 is pure Kinky Malinki dance floor action, and shows why Mark has been made a new recruit with the team, showcasing his immense musical knowledge. Elmo and Richards stonker Kinky Way of Life is thrown in along with Tom Novy’s mix of I Wish You Would by Martijn Ten Velden feature in a superlative house mix.

Teaming up with Seamless Recordings is an important step and shows how KM continues to evolve, working with industry leaders and delivering a new and exciting double CD package as part of the extensive KM re-branding programme.
